2017 27: The Secret Wife

By Gill Paul

Rating 4 out of 5

This is my book club selection for the month.  It is a very well-written imagining of what may have happened if one of the Romanov Grand duchesses had survived and led a secret life.

The front of the book has this standard legal boilerplate:

This novel is entirely a work of fiction.  The names, characters and incidents portrayed in it are the work of the author’s imagination.  Any resemblance to actual persons living or dead, events or localities is entirely coincidental.

This is not true.  The story is very obviously based on the lives of real people and takes place in real locations.
