2017 46: A Natural Woman

By Carole King

Rating: 3 out of 5

This is a fine book.  I enjoyed it more than Carly Simon’s book.  Carole King just came across as a more likable person to me, but they both have issues with men.

2017 45: Two Nights

By Kathy Reichs

Rating 3.5 out of 5

I didn’t like this at first, but the more it went on, the better it was.  I might read another, if there is a follow-up.

2017 44: Deadfall

By Linda Fairstein

Rating 2.5 out of 5

This series continues to suffer from Kay Scarpetta syndrome, whereby the main character becomes a part of the crime, instead of just investigating the crime.  In both series it is astounding to me that these respected characters become suspects in cases.  The people around them must not really think much of them.

2017 40: boys in the trees: a memoir

By Carly Simon

Rating:  2.5 out of 5

From the book flap:  “Intimate, candid, and told with a poet’s ear for language,….”  Her poets ear for language gags me.  The way she describes time with James Taylor is syrupy gross.

Also, it seems she had sex with every man who ever cam to her apartment, including other people’s boyfriends and husbands.

She mentions once or twice that she is a narcissist.  She didn’t have to tell me.  I could tell from her writing.
